Authoring Systems & Instructional Design

Fall Session 2008

This course will explore designing and constructing lessons, tutorials and presentations for the classroom through a Dynamic Instructional Design Model. We will be utilizing authoring software such as PowerPoint, Keynote, Wikis, Podcasting and more. We will investigate ways to incorporate multimedia into presentations to add excitement and interest to teaching and learning while maintaining a systematic approach to instruction.


Main focus of this course:

  • DID Model of Instruction (Dynamic Instructional Design Model)
  • Authoring systems and their uses in the classroom
  • Multimedia integration in authoring systems
  • Non-linear multimedia project creation
  • Technology integration in lesson planning
  • Copyright issues in the classroom
  • Collaborative work through web tools (WIKI, Google Docs, Discussion forums etc.)
