Technology Integration Specialist
What's a TIS? A TIS's job is to provide leadership and support in the integration of technology into the classroom and the curriculum to support the teaching and learning process.
What does that mean? Basically, I am a resource for all teachers to provide support in the area of technology integration. A few of my duties are:
- Conducts faculty workshops in using technology to assist the teaching and/or learning process.
- Assists in the selection of software, Internet resources, and technology-enabled educational activities.
- Assists faculty and office staff in the productive use of technology.
- Assists in the ordering of new computers, peripherals, and software.
- Coordinates (and assist if necessary) the set up of new computers, including software installation and configuration.
- Works with the support technologist to troubleshoot and resolve computer system and software problems.
- Maintains up-to-date school technology inventory.
- Maintains up-to-date records of school IP addresses.
- Coordinates with the technical assistants in the performance of basic setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks.
- Coordinates (and assist if necessary) the set up and configuration of office and library computers and back up systems.
